The Journey into Light

I face more toward the west these days; it seems almost like a homecoming. I spend more time in the western part of the yard around my house, the side with the angels, the crosses, and St. Francis1. Metaphorically, I am in the western or sun setting part of my life, in my sixties, the beginning of the wonderful winter season. Understand, I try to take in every sunrise I can, but I also bask in sunsets (in the deepest meaning) in this season, both poetically and literally, soaking in the Light of God.

I was born in a western culture and have a western mind and psyche. I went east for a few seasons (several decades) but seem to have come home with some balance. I cherish what I learned and experienced in the Mother Religion of Hinduism and her daughter Buddhism, in which I was ordained as a Kyoshi-dharma teacher. I also learned from the experience of the Tao. I reveled in Lao-tzu, the Old Master, teaching, "I am not like other people, I drink from the breasts of the Great Mother." The metaphorical ‘milk’ from the breasts of the Great Mother is nothing more than sheer grace of the Beloved. A western mystic, describing that milk might call it the Logos, the Pure Light of God, straight from the Bridal Chamber in the Palace of Light.

For me, the journey in eastern spirituality came in earnest in my thirties, after my time of missionary work teaching what I thought was the Christian "Word" on Nevada Indian reservations. While trying to teach others something that seemed increasingly dogmatic and exoteric to me, I felt I was withering. So for many years I dove into the eastern traditions with a new fervor, thinking they had something the west was missing. I had read Autobiography of a Yogi and had begun the lessons of Yogananda’s Self -Realization Fellowship around 1970 and had begun practicing Hatha Yoga but now was preparing for what seemed a more intense search for who I was. I had not yet learned that the totality of the search, east or west, is intense.

I clearly remember around that time what seemed to be a chance happening; you know, those funny little life events. I rented a car at the airport in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was around 1980. The car radio was tuned to a call-in talk show featuring secular psychiatrist Dr. David Viscott, who gave counsel and comfort to those seeking advice. As I sat in sweltering temperatures and snarled traffic, Dr. Viscott responded to a caller's spiritual dilemma, saying, "All we can ever know about God is what we can know about ourselves." Something caught my attention that day. It took me back to the ‘tat twam asi,’ or ‘Thou art that,’ teaching of Hindus like Yogananda. I had slipped into the rut of exoteric thinking about God mostly as transcendent, out there, so to speak. I had been neglecting the other half of the process, the immanence of God in and around me. In fact, I began to think more in terms of process and journey than structure and destination on the path of spiritual self-discovery. I had been more comfortable talking about knowing God though reading the red-lettered words of Jesus in the Bible, or in rote prayer. Viscott’s words stirred an agonizing internal debate already simmering within. I wanted truth and freedom in a deeper way and needed more light, so I went east in my studies and spiritual practices.

Over the last decade or so I have come home to the west. Even during my years doing temple work as a Buddhist priest, I studied the western mystics, the early Church, the Gnostics, and compared them to the highest revealed eastern teachings. The mystics, both east and west, point to the mystery and the initiations into Light.

Having experienced that, I feel at home again with my western spirituality. Oddly enough, what we scholars call Western Tradition comes from ancient Mesopotamia, Israel, Persia, Greece and Egypt. (However, we are discovering that these teachings were also present in the ancient Americas.)

So much for a few disjointed pieces of my personal history and journey, and forgive me for rambling. I include a bit of my personal trek to show I have been on the journey long enough to have a few things to say for those who have ears to hear; something that fellow mystics who have started ascending the Jacob’s Ladder of Lights will recognize. For those who have ears to hear, I quote from the Gospel of Thomas:

He said, "O Lord, there are many around the drinking trough, but there is nothing in the cistern [that feeds it]."

I suspect anyone reading this is on a spiritual journey and longing for Light. The above passage from Thomas tells us that many in their day were also looking for the living water but the well of exoteric religion was dry. Neither Jesus nor Buddha before him was able to find the Living Water in the broken religious cisterns of their day. The same is true today of the dogmas and creeds, eastern or western, that do not quench thirst or offer much Light. My experience is that the dogmatic exoteric structures of organized religion today lead very few (if any) to the Beatific Vision, the Bridal Chamber, the Pure Land, the Worlds of Light, or liberation or salvation. Our outer structures of religion have lost all but fragments of the ancient, true teachings and have been mostly involved with self-preservation. By and large, the officials of these structures are very nice people. They have made some strides in the area of social justice in the last century and helped many temporally; however, and in general, they have lost, don’t know of, or don’t offer, the original, ancient, transformational and supernal teachings and techniques of Christ. These teachings, also given by other holy ones of old, lead to the Kingdom of Heaven, to becoming a Light Being, to directly experiencing God. The late mythologist Joseph Campbell suggested that this outer kind of exoteric religion was actually "an inoculation against having a divine experience." As Jesus did, many of us continue to pray that our outer religious structures re-member, and come to life again, and provide light again, in these late and dark days. I take no pleasure in saying this. I have spent much of my life as a clergyperson in these structures, eastern and western. I have many friends in them.

The spiritual journey is the only real path one can choose here on planet Earth, or any other planet for that matter. It is the journey home to becoming a Light Being, a Bodhisattva, or a Seer. The journey leads to the mystical Bridal Chamber. Yet the scriptures tell us that one must have on the proper wedding garment or vestment to be admitted into the feast and then the inner chamber. The vesture of Light is required. This is the mystery the true initiations lead to, east or west.

Speaking again of those funny little life events; finding the teachings and techniques of Cosolargy was my good fortune. I have stumbled into the treasure-house. The true, ancient, and revealed teachings have always been shielded from, but often embedded in, the outer and mundane teachings. The real techniques have never been put into public print. One has to find a mystical order that can impart them if one has ears to hear and eyes to see. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you. Ask and it shall be given unto you. Seek and ye shall find.

Journey to India

"...in the ancient Indian culture, as in so many cultures of recorded history, sages had visions of a future age, an age when the Supreme Creator would intervene in world affairs and bring peace and harmony among all peoples and all nations of the world. This age was to be one of Universal Justice and Virtue when God would end the eternal struggle caused by human and natural order; He would use the very Powers of Creation to stabilize the Universe – an event described in the liturgical symbolism of Indian religion."

Prophecy of the Universal Theocracy

From April 22 to May 20 of this year, the Right Reverend Gene Savoy, Jr., President of Cosolargy International and Head Bishop of the International Community of Christ,  traveled to the Indian subcontinent with two companions. His mission was to introduce into the Vedic tradition the universal System of Cosolargy, an ancient system of spiritual regeneration adapted for use in modern times which teaches one how to bring to life dormant or latent spiritual attributes by means of cosmic solar energy. Cosolargy advances the art and science of mystic methods of transcendence via solar eye absorption employing techniques by which the individual can be transformed into an awakened soul.

In addition to touring southern, central and northern India and visiting numerous ancient solar sites, temples and healing shrines, Bishop Savoy met with Swami Sri Atmananda, the founder and leader of the Satya-chetana Movement, which has recently been collaborating with Cosolargy International (see posting SatyaChetana) to facilitate the spiritual transformation of the world in this crucially cosmic era. Bishop Savoy and Swami Atmananda  were in discussion for two days at the Satya-chetana Ashram in Tiruvannamalai, where they also shared in a special sunrise service together.

On May 10, the Head Bishop had an audience with His Holiness the 17th Karmapa, the Black Hat Lama of Tibet and spiritual head of the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, in Dharamsala and presented him with gifts including the sacred texts, Jamil, Child of Light – Messenger of God and Prophecy of the Universal Theocracy. ( see posting Meeting with Karmapa) This scripture forms a portion of The Sacred Teachings of Light which treat on the New Light of God that is permeating the Universe and bringing forth heightened levels of spiritual Consciousness by means of the Sun of Righteousness – enhanced energy levels which have never before been experienced by the human family.

Traveling with Bishop Savoy were the Reverend Dr. Bill Bartlett, a Pureland Buddhist priest and an ordained minister of the International Community of Christ, and the Reverend Robert Roy, also an ordained minister with the International Community of Christ. All three are practicing Cosolargists.

Beyond Sun Gazing

There has been much interest in recent years on the practice of solar light absorption or what is popularly known as "sun gazing." A quick search online will produce a myriad of Web sites advancing a variety of practices, many of which are highly speculative and misinformed. We know that many ancient cultures and civilizations held the sun in high regard. But in many cases, this, too, went far beyond the commonly held concept of "sun worship." The great spiritual Masters and Teachers knew that the physical sun was a gateway to another world – a Sun behind the sun. They also knew that sunlight was the conveyer of Intelligence and Information. This Intelligence and Information was not only the source of all life on Earth but able to open or unlock latent spiritual faculties within the human being by means of certain Divine Factors streaming in through the physical from heavenly or Divine Realms. This was the teaching of the great Masters on which the noble religions and philosophies of the world were originally founded. These figures include Moses, Aaron, Jesus, Zoroaster, Buddha, Krishna, Viracocha/Quetzalcoatl, as well as Socrates, Plato, Akhenaten, Confucius, Lao Tzu and many, many others.

These ancient high solar religions were the basis of many of the traditions we are familiar with today, albeit they have mostly degenerated into forms that would be unrecognizable to the original founders and their high teachings, concepts and practices. One common element to be found among them, however, was that the use of the sun as a tool for spiritual awakening or enlightenment was accomplished through a Sacred System of Spiritual Regeneration taught by mystic Schools or holy Orders. This was the case with Jesus and the Essenes, the Aaronic Priesthood, Quetzalcoatl’s sun temples in the Americas, as well as for Plato and his Academy. But why was this? The reason was and is that the spiritual seeker employing the use of the sun's vast energies must adhere to certain spiritual disciplines, ethics and codes in order to benefit in the best possible way and not cause damage – physical, psychic and spiritual – to oneself. Adherence to these disciplines, ethics and codes not only prevents the individual from using the power of the sun for selfish and destructive purposes, but also causes positive affects to the person, the planet, the Universe, and the spiritual Cosmos as a whole.

Today, we are privileged to live in a special Age. It is a time when an old cycle is passing away and a new one is coming into being. This time, whether we call it a New Solar Epoch, the Age of Consciousness, God’s Second Advent, or the dawning of a Golden Age of Light, is ushering in and bringing forth cosmic and spiritual changes never before experienced by the human family which is changing life as we know it. It is "now" that has been longed for and awaited by spiritual aspirants and seekers for millennia. As a species, we must learn to adapt to the profound changes taking place and the energies that have manifested within the sun which are impacting all living forms. Some might call this new sun the Sixth Sun; others might refer to it as the prophesied Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2). It is my belief that the world will not perish, but it will surely be transformed. The question is what shape will that transformation take. Will it be for Good? The advancement of Truth Consciousness? And the emergence of a Golden Age of Light and a new race of Light Beings on Earth? I believe it will.

The transcendent System of Cosolargy, a modern word for an ancient spiritual discipline of becoming, has been practiced by solar mystics and spiritual seekers the world over for nearly 60 years. It teaches the individual how to use the light of the physical sun to enhance not only physical attributes but dormant psycho-spiritual faculties, as well. The Force Centers (chakras) are enlivened; they begin to spin and take on personality. Importantly, they are developed in harmony with each other, which is so often not the case. In time, the practicing solar adept penetrates beyond physical sunlight into Worlds of Light, a place beyond the physical but from where it emerged. By the application of Cosolargy, an ultra-organism is developed – the spiritual Light Body of which so many speak, but of which so little is known. The process takes one on a personal journey where one can retrace their origin to the Godhead and escape the cycle of life and death. It is a magnificent experience, and one which goes far beyond mere sun gazing.

Gurdjieff as Herald of the Coming Good

This short treatise and selection of essential concepts and ideas declared by Gurdjieff is an announcement of the "Herald of the Coming Good" from the International Community of Cosolargy, an authentic Essene Brotherhood, to all the students and practitioners of G.I. Gurdjieff’s "Way" or "Fourth Way." (Quotes are drawn primarily from his magnum opus, the magisterial book All and Everything in the 1950 edition, the only edition authorized by Gurdjieff himself.) The brief statement I am providing here exhumes the dog along with the bone (as he so humorously put it), which he buried deeply and consciously in the text, in a calculated and predetermined way, to be unearthed at this hour in the spiritual destiny of mankind.

The cosmic clock is nearing the hour of completion of a major cosmic cycle that will allow more light into the consciousness of humanity to enable them to fully awaken from aeons of deep sleep that has hampered and blocked humankind from achieving their potential to become the Sons and Daughters of God—their stolen birthright.

Mr. Gurdjieff says:

"‘Yes . . . my dear friend, if only the teaching of the Divine Jesus Christ were carried out in full conformity with its original, then the religion unprecedentedly wisely founded on it would not only be the best of all existing religions, but even of all religions which may arise and exist in the future.’"

(All and Everything, 1950 authorized edition, p. 1009)

Another "prophetic" statement by Gurdjieff1:

"I advise you, my dear Hassein, not to put such questions to yourself yet. Do not be impatient. Only when that period of your existence arrives which is proper for your becoming aware of such essence-questions, and you actively mentate about them, will you understand what you must do in return.

"Your present age does not yet oblige you to pay for your existence. The time of your present age is not given you in which to pay for your existence, but for preparing yourself for the future, for the obligations becoming to a responsible three-brained being.

"So in the meantime, exist as you exist. Only do not forget one thing, namely, at your age it is indispensably necessary that every day, at sunrise, while watching the reflection of its splendor, you bring about a contact between your consciousness and the various unconscious parts of your general presence. Try to make this state last and to convince the unconscious parts—as if they were conscious—that if they hinder your general functioning, they, in the period of your responsible age, not only cannot fulfill the good that befits them, but your general presence of which they are part will not be able to be a good servant of our COMMON ENDLESS CREATOR and by that will not even be worthy to pay for your arising and existence."

(All and Everything, pp. 77-78)

To All and Everybody that have begun their enlightenment by studying and practicing The Fourth Way, the Esoteric Christianity of the Lost Teachings of Jesus—knowledge that was introduced to the West by G.I. Gurdjieff and through the writings of his most popular student and associate, P.D. Ouspensky, in his book In Search of the Miraculous—we offer you a new (and very ancient) body of knowledge.

The International Community of Cosolargy has been released from many years of secrecy and can now make available to you the long-hidden source and the vital information needed to provide you with the superabundant energy required to feed and grow the elusive "True Self" that slumbers restlessly inside you and to accelerate the "awakening" and help you to finish the work you have started.

All students and practitioners of G.I. Gurdjieff’s still esoteric and subterranean light-bearing insights and divine wisdom, the epitome of lost knowledge encapsulated and deeply buried "like the dog," as he put it in All and Everything, are well aware of his deepest personal struggles and sufferings and heartfelt desire described in his life’s work:

"FIRST SERIES : To destroy, mercilessly, without any compromises whatsoever, in the mentation and feelings of the reader, the beliefs and views, by centuries rooted in him, about everything existing in the world.

"SECOND SERIES: To acquaint the reader with the material required for a new creation and to prove the soundness and good quality of it.

"THIRD SERIES: To assist the arising, in the mentation and in the feelings of the reader, of a veritable, non-fantastic representation, not of that illusory world which he now perceives, but of the world existing in reality."

(All and Everything, p. v)

What lies hidden behind these words in Gurdjieff’s amazing book?

In a conversation with a prospective pupil (found in the essay "Glimpses of Truth," which is included as the first chapter of the book Views from the Real World), Gurdjieff advises: "Try to fix your interest and attention . . . on what lies hidden behind the words, on the inner content."

In the year 1916, Gurdjieff said that some things, such as "types" and the "forty-eight laws" "... cannot be defined in ordinary language, and the language in which they could be defined you do not as yet know and will not know for a long time."

(Fragments, p. 246)

We have finally reached that time.

In studying Gurdjieff, Ouspensky, and Ouspensky’s chief student (the person he chose to update all his writings for our generation) Rodney Collin, and the many other commentators of The Fourth Way, we have learned that we are "asleep"; and we have learned that in order to wake up we have to catch a glimpse of our essence, our "True Self," for a moment; and that discovery is only possible in the "present" to give it birth; then forever after that epiphany, we have to "Self Remember" to feed our elusive, sleeping but truly "authentic" Self or, in religious terms, our Soul. Once the True Self is discovered we have the potential to "work" on it to develop it and to awaken it. By doing the "work" we are on "The Way." To some practitioners of Gurdjieff’s system it is called "The Fourth Way." It is the Way taken by a person to develop the true "objectivity" and a true "conscience" that slowly enables us to tell the difference between our outer "mechanical" and slumbering personality—made up of our thoughts, feelings, bodily needs, and our many other machinelike multiple inner moving parts, our manifold eyes or "I"s, our many identities or our thought-life rampaging within, under little or no supervision—and the "master" I, the "foreman" or "steward." This is the genuine "gnosis" that Gurdjieff brought to the West. He called it "The Terror of the Situation."

There is a well-known story about Gurdjieff that he was once asked by a traveling companion on a train what business he was in. Gurdjieff replied that he was a salesman. "Of what? Asked the traveling companion. "Of solar energy," Gurdjieff replied. He was referring to the "higher" energies of essence needed by our soul, which belong to the sun and pass through the sun. But he might also have replied that he was a salesman of the secret knowledge of how to "wake up" our sleeping True Self from the dreams, fantasies, programming, and delusions of life.

What is so easily overlooked are the occasional reminders and clues scattered here and there throughout his amazing book that refer to his "Divine Teacher," as he calls him, Jesus Christ, the illustrious but easily dismissed source of his wisdom teachings. Gurdjieff also once described his life’s work as "Esoteric Christianity," the lost or hidden Teachings of Jesus. These Teachings are overlooked by the seekers of lost or hidden knowledge because of the slipshod and unrighteous behavior of the so-called Christian Churches since the Roman usurpation of the early Church in the fourth century. The declaration by Emperor Constantine that made Christianity a state church gradually drove out anything truly Christian of The Master’s intention, as well as His essential and sometimes even secret Teachings, from the public arena and forced the authentic Gospel found in Christ’s Teachings, his hidden, "oral" Teachings, underground, where they have been existing only in the form of scattered fragments. Or, according to Gurdjieff himself, they still exist in their entirety as a secret system guarded to this day by its custodians, within an Essene Brotherhood located near Jerusalem. Gurdjieff whispers to the reader, in his clever way, of "burying the dog" that he learned from his "Divine Teacher" by way of His messenger the Holy Spirit. Gurdjieff here describes what happened to the "essence" of the True Teachings of Jesus:

"But thereafter they began gradually to ‘strip’ also this religious teaching based on ‘resplendent Love,’ and transformed it into something also ‘resplendent,’ but already, as our dear Mullah Nasser Eddin says, into a ‘resplendent-Terasakhaboora from the fairy tale ‘Kasoaadjy.’

"In the case of this great religious teaching, indeed, it also happened among them, that its followers divided themselves, on account of exterior details of small importance, into various sects, and came to be called not just ‘Christians’ as all the first followers of this teaching called themselves— but ‘Orthodox,’ ‘Sevrodox,’ ‘Ypsylodox,’ ‘Hamilodox,’ and various other cognomens also ending in ‘dox.’"

(All and Everything, p. 702)

(I personally think of the -dox word as box, like the closed and confined minds that cling blindly to half truths, legalistic doctrines, and outright lies—all of which prevail in what we nominally call "Christianity." )

Then Gurdjieff reveals what happened to the authentic Teachings of his "Divine teacher," Jesus Christ, after the Teachings had been tucked away and guarded for almost two thousand years by a small community of brothers ... until today:

"By the way, I may tell you here that among a rather small group of terrestrial beings the teaching of Jesus Christ was preserved unchanged, and, passing from generation to generation, has even reached the present time in its original form.

"This smallish group of terrestrial beings is designated ‘the Brotherhood of the Essenes.’ The beings of this brotherhood succeeded at first in introducing the teaching of this Divine Teacher into their own being-existence, and subsequently in transmitting it from generation to generation to later generations, as a very good means for freeing themselves from the consequences of the properties of the organ Kundabuffer."

(All and Everything, pp. 703-4)

Gurdieff goes on to say quite clearly and emphatically:

"‘Yes, my dear friend, if only the teaching of the Divine Jesus Christ were carried out in full conformity with its original, then the religion unprecedentedly wisely founded on it would not only be the best of all existing religions, but even of all religions which may arise and exist in the future.’"

(All and Everything, p. 1009)

Gurdjieff continues:

"And therefore at the present time, in place of the teaching of the Divine Teacher Jesus Christ, in which among other things was revealed the power of the All-lovingness and All-forgivingness of our CREATOR, suffering for beings—it is now already taught there that our CREATOR mocks the souls of those who follow this teaching."

(All and Everything, p. 703)

Gurdjieff goes even further in affirming that all the matters of the universe are found in man: "We have in us the matter of all other worlds." Man is, in the full sense of the term, a miniature universe; in him are all the matters of which the universe consists. We can interpret this as meaning that what is being described is the Gurdjieffian version of the "Christian" mystery of the Eucharist, a symbol in fact of the Sun.

The big question that hovers above his book and his legacy is, What did Jesus teach him by His Holy Spirit, and what are the lost oral teachings of Jesus that Gurdieff was searching for most of his life?

As we can see from every effort to read and digest his books, primarily All and Everything, that the gist of Gurdjieff’s teaching is very complex, and we have only touched on the most essential intentions of Gurdjieff’s lifelong efforts to share the vast, deep, and wide discoveries he made in his personal quest, primarily in the Near and Far East, starting with his life as a young seminary student in the Greek Orthodox faith, then into Tibet, Turkestan, Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan, Germany, and God only knows where else, for enlightenment. Gurdjieff was a master of all the major religions and a few secret ones, certain dervish and Sufi orders, in order to synthesize all the major truths of all the disparate but similar religions into a unitary whole. But make no mistake about it: Gurdjieff’s concepts have multiple aspects, most of which totally escape the methodology of modern understanding and what passes for "reality," since they concern, rather, the inner alchemy, the truly unlimited human potential of a fully awakened, fully perfected, fully "conscious" man or woman.

All and Everybody that take seriously Gurdjieff’s life’s work are familiar with his constant references to the Sun as a manifestation of God—his "The Most Holy Sun Absolute"—a very distant, almost unapproachable Supreme Being that is behind Everything we consider reality. Our sun is an outward manifestation only, His agent, His luminous physical emissary of His divine supernal light, which He has created to represent Himself to us in our much lower form of existence, in our dream world, within which we are working in our efforts to awaken.

Almost unnoticed in Guerdjieff’s big, fat, twelve-hundred-plus-page book are some simple and easily overlooked clues to his amazing, totally original recovery of the Lost Teachings and his deeply personal struggles and revelations to share the fruits of his lifelong labors. He struggled and single-mindedly strove most of his often hazardous life—working, exploring, studying, suffering, and sometimes narrowly escaping the hazards of the twentieth-century’s social, political, and religious revolutions—in order to discover, recover, and fathom, then reconstruct, rewire, and explain in detail, the inner workings of our sublime soft machine, the cosmic or universal laws inside and outside of each of us.

Finally, at the end of his life, he published his book, his "gospel," as he put it, in order to share with us all the objective views he so laboriously fathomed about our unique status as "three-brained beings" stuck on this planet with its peculiar history of constant warfare and our peculiar, often warring religions that in their original form are supposed to assist us in the "awakening" we need to accomplish as a collective family called humanity.

We are now immersed in the final struggle between the forces at work in our planet’s evolution, that battle between the Children of Darkness and the Children of Light. The prophetic calendar has finally arrived at the critical point in time when we can help advance the efforts to stimulate, alert, educate, and bring into the Light mankind—to be awakened to "consciously" serve His Most Holy Sun Absolute and His Christ manifesting through the sun.

Consociates of The International Community of Cosolargy are an authentic Essene Brotherhood with spiritual roots deeply buried under layers and centuries of secrecy and guardianship of the Sacred Teachings of Light. We have modernized the ancient forms of the Teachings into a new life science called Cosolargy. We have been quietly preparing individuals to be emissaries and teachers and harbingers of a long-prophesied Solar Age, where the light from our sun will increase in its manifestation of the Powers of God, the Sun behind the sun, "The Most Holy Sun Absolute," as the long-awaited spiritual renaissance is initiated for a spiritual revolution in the minds and hearts of all that desire His pure Light and His Consciousness to grow strong within our mortal coils.

Through our living, neo-metaphysical System, all of God’s created and divined religions will be transformed into their original pure intentions, the intentions they had before this world so radically corrupted and weakened them from their pristine teachings of how to literally look to the Sun as our primary source of spiritual food for our malnourished souls.

Together, as the human family, we are experiencing the final days and times, as we reach the end of an age on the cosmic calendar and the beginning of a new Solar Age, long-predicted in all the major religions—Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, and Buddhism. They all foresee in their sacred scriptures an ending of the times of Darkness and the entry into the Worlds of Light.

Come join us in this "final adventure of Enlightenment" as we beat back the already gathering and coalescing forces of Darkness. They have a head start, but we have the Head of the entire enterprise leading us and illuminating our "Way."

An Inspirational Vision for the Future

The 2nd Annual Conference on the Spiritual State of the World:  Frequencies, Resonance & Vibrational Healing — Toward 2012, was hosted by Cosolargy International in Reno, Nevada, September 8-11, 2011.  (Presenters Biographical Information)

With people attending from almost every continent, (North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania) the conference featured a large contingency from Japan, led by Yukinori Matsushita, Director of Cosolargy Institute of Japan and Manners Sound Research Company Ltd. based in Kurume, Japan, who was also one of the conference presenters.

James OschmanThe keynote address, "Syntropy, or the Drive in Nature to Perfect Itself," was delivered on Thursday morning by the internationally celebrated author and alternative therapist Dr. James L. Oschman. Emphasis was placed upon new alternative healing technologies, the self-healing potentials of subtle energies, solar energy and its dominant role in health and survival, and the importance of "earthing" — reconnecting with the free electrons of the planet’s surface and the miraculous healing benefits derived therefrom by simply going barefoot.

Oschman was followed by David Gibson, Founding Director of the Globe Sound and Consciousness Institute in San Francisco. His talk, "Using the Laws of Resonance to Handle Challenges, Conflicts, World Changes, and Noise," featured audience interaction in chanting, intoning, and vocal techniques that may be employed to alter states of consciousness and deflect stress from ambient noise.

Sean SavoySean Savoy, Chancellor of the International Community of Cosolargy and the Jamilian University, concluded the morning's presentations with a review of the dimensional understandings of the physical, psychic, and spiritual aspects that compose the tripartite conscious entity.

Following a wonderful luncheon served onsite, noted sound researcher, educator, composer, music producer, and specialist in psychoacoustics, Joshua Leeds, opened the afternoon presentations with "Internet and Innernet: A Call for Leadership.

Leeds discussed the international communications network that has enormously increased global communications and which has, for example, galvanized members of the "Arab Spring" in the Middle East and Africa. He also addressed myriad emerging new technologies and the rapid growth of techno-industries and their effects upon consciousness. He left open the question of whether these developments are positive or negative directions for humankind, as for example in the areas of robotics and digital effects upon the overall person.

Leeds was followed by Rebecca Willis, Director of Admissions at the Jamilian University. In her lecture, "Pioneers in Healing and Gnostic Tradition," she reviewed several alternative healers in America and Europe during the last century, such as Sebastian Kneipp's work with hydrotherapy and Dr. August Rollier's work with heliotherapy. Special emphasis was given to Carl Jung’s spiritual concepts and those therapists working in metaphysical and spiritual health communities, such as those associated with the work of John H. Kellogg at the Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan, with its long and illustrious history.

The concluding presentation of the afternoon was delivered by the Complementary and Alternative Medical (CAM) Practitioner and Researcher, Karl Maret, MD. His presentation, "Energy Healing Arts during Times of Global Transformation," addressed a plethora of new approaches in alternative medicine, including the use of light and sound and therapies involving subtle energies. To the delight of all present, he finished his address with scientific analysis of solar conditions through the year 2014.

Peig MyotaThe Friday morning opening address was skillfully delivered by Peig Myota, codirector of The Healing Place in Mequon, Wisconsin. In "A Mind-Body Approach to Color, Light, and Sound Frequency Healing," Ms. Myota revisited the tripartite entity discussed by Sean Savoy the previous day — outlining the physical, psychic, and spiritual person, and how she and her colleagues in Wisconsin have been using light, color, and sound in their numerous therapeutic approaches, which include aura reading with special computer programs, color applications with LED light bars above the treatment table and with radiant lighting in a separate room, and with sound applications developed in conjunction with Steamboat Healing Center in Reno, Nevada, a facility of Cosolargy International.

The mid-morning presentation, titled, "Images of Paradox: The Unity of Inner and Outer Life and the World Soul," was offered by Rowena Pattee Kryder, PhD. Drawing materials from her long and celebrated career — her fifteen books and hundreds of paintings, Ms. Kryder stressed that "there are subtle energies that the Vedic seers knew, and through breath we can become one with them and master them." Art, vision, symbols, and especially archetypes are essential in reconnecting our "inner" and "outer" consciousness via "The World Soul" (Teilhard de Chardin), or the unified PSI field, which relate to the Imaginal Realm (Karl Bohm), the so-called Implicate Order. Our greatest soul longing is to rediscover the "Christos" within.

Yukinori MatsushitaPrior to luncheon, Yukinori Matsushita spoke about the work he and the Cosolargy Institute in Japan are undertaking. In addition to translating the Cosolargy Papers into Japanese, Mr. Matsushita has been enrolling Japanese students for studies with the Jamilian University.

Matsushita also addressed the recent tsunami and nuclear radiation concerns in Japan, along with ongoing solar-geophysical changes taking place in the islands. Overall the people are optimistic and spiritually strong but in need of more conscious guidance; for example, as found in the "Teachings of Light offered by our school."

He also discussed the global implications of the subtle energies, ley lines, ancient shrines, and specific locations found throughout Japan — viewed by spiritual leaders there as miniature maps of other continents and nations. In other words, events occurring in Japan, in terms of geophysical and spiritual concepts, are seen by traditional religious leaders as due to occur at resonant-corresponding areas around the planet.

After lunch, Gary Robert Buchanan gave an opening afternoon presentation titled "Sonatherapy and Cosolargy within the context of Fifth-Dimensional Paraphysic and Fourth-Dimensional Physics."

His talk also reviewed the tripartite entity discussed by Savoy and Myota above, then moved on to what is being developed in Sonatherapeutics at Steamboat Healing Center. Such includes the use of light, color, sound, water, and subtle energies in combination — a unique and relatively new approach to self-healing that is proving quite beneficial at sister facilities around the globe. Vedic principles of "Purusha" and divine architecture, "Vastu," were shown to be guides in the use of subtle energies for transformation, both on the personal and impersonal levels, and in harmony with the principles of Cosolargy.

Sri AtmanandaIn mid-afternoon, Cosolargy International hosted Swami Sri Atmananda from India. Atmananda heads the Satya-Chetana Movement there — with followers in the United States, India, and elsewhere. As an "awakened guru," he gave a brief talk on what he envisions now and for the future — in an optimistic and visionary fashion. Prior to his remarks, the swami also presented Gene Savoy Jr., President of Cosolargy International and the Jamilian University, with a traditional shawl of brotherhood, as Savoy and others had visited with him at his Indian ashram last year and are now "brothers."

To conclude the conference, Gene Savoy, Jr. followed Atmananda with thanks to the presenters and stressed that all at the Conference are involved in similar work and that world conditions dictate we come together now.  Speaking on "The Inevitability of a New World," Savoy stressed that the Teachings of Cosolargy emphasize the melding, or blending, of science and religion. Science without religious principles is limited, and religion without science is dead. We are, or should be "spiritual scientists, researchers of the spirit and healers of the soul."

Differentiating between "sun gazing" and applying the religious art and spiritual science of Cosolargy, Savoy emphasized that we can acquire heighted psychic or intuitive senses and develop spiritual Consciousness. The physical sun is a porthole or gateway to another sun, or another world, and the information that streams forth comes from a world beyond time and space. It is the source of All, and Cosolargy allows the individual to experience this for himself or herself here and now.

"We are at the dawning of a Golden Age, a Golden Age of Light. We are instruments of the divine, God, Spirit. Consciousness has sent us here to do great things in this world. We are here to assist mankind in merging towards his divine origin. Powerful spiritual vibrations are at work and the inevitability of a New World is without question. It is happening now, and that is the spiritual state of the world."

On Friday evening following the conference, a "Spirit of Exploration" gala banquet was held at the Atlantis Hotel sponsored by Cosolargy International and the Andean Explorers Foundation (AEF&OSC).  The dinner featured several films and an ongoing slide show of Cosolargy International’s two-week tour of Japan in May 2011, live music performed by harpist Deborah Brown and cellist David Brown, special Japanese dance selections, award presentations, and a memorial salute to the late Duncan MacLean, longtime friend of AEF&OSC, and which included a performance of live bagpipe selections.

On Saturday the tenth, a Fifteenth Anniversary Open-House, Health Fair & Expo was hosted at Steamboat Healing Center with hundreds in attendance. All presenters were on hand to meet the public, discuss alternative healing, and deliver short remarks. Also performing in the afternoon was noted soprano Jan Cercone, accompanied by singing bowls and chimes played by Richard Skalsky. The Steamboat performance was the first given by Cercone and initiated her current world tour.

In early evening a reception was held at Cosolargy International’s facilities on Mt. Carmel in south-west Reno for all the presenters, at which time lively discussions continued in regard to the Jamilian University, the New Community of Light, and how these special and talented individuals may help contribute to the ongoing mission of awakening humankind to the dawning new Light of Consciousness.

Continuing in this vein, on Sunday morning, September 11, a special Sunrise Prayer Service — with all attendees present, was observed at the Red Rock Consecrated Sanctuary north of Reno. Singing bowls and hand bells accompanied ecumenical prayers delivered by the officiants, and as the sun rose there were special chants representing several faith traditions and a special song composed and sung by the Japanese visitors.

On Sunday afternoon, the final Round Table of Presenters was held at the Airport Plaza Hotel in Reno. Moderated by Sean Savoy, the questions and responses offered delved ever more deeply into the subject of the current and future state of the world and how Cosolargy may help restore the proper frequencies and resonance needed — on all levels — and within the context of global healing.

All events were videotaped, and Cosolargy International is in the process of editing and making available DVDs of the conference.

In 2012 the Third Annual International Conference on The Spiritual State of the World: Dawning of the Golden Age of Light is scheduled for the week of September 27-30. Watch for more information on this conference and as soon as the DVDs for this year's conference are available, information will be posted on this site.

I had succeeded in slowing down my watch to some degree, and there was evidence suggesting that my physiological processes were equally slowed down by my practicing of techniques inherent in what I had named ‘The System.’” – Gene Savoy (Sr.)

My father’s experiments into sun gazing lead him to make that statement in chapter one of  his popular book Project “X”: The Search for the Secrets of Immortality, published by Bobbs-Merrill some 35 years ago. The research he undertook was fascinating, to say the least. It involved, as the title of the book suggests, an inquiry into the proverbial fountain of youth.

His search took him to South America where he vigorously investigated the Andes and Amazon for clues to unlock the secrets of longevity known to the Incas, in particular, who were described by Spanish explorers to have lived to great ages.

“Stories of the Inca king Huayna Capac provided one of my earliest clues to the puzzle,” he wrote. “The Inca looked straight into the sun with the naked eye, although he was admonished not to do so. … the Inca continued to gaze at the brilliant orb and contemplate its nature.” Why were these so-called “children of the sun” able to look upon sunlight without harm while others, such as some yogins of India, would stare at the sun but eventually go blind (p. 7)?

The work of German physicist, philosopher, and psychologist, Gustav Fechner (1801–1887), also intrigued him. Fechner had stared at the sun, going blind, but eventually regained his sight. His experimentation resulted in his acquiring a new kind of vision by which he could see a force field around living things. This ability compelled Fechner to conclude that, as my father put it, “true freedom of any creature can only be found in the soul, whose awakening enables the individual to see life as it really is, not just as it appears” (p. 8).

My father drew a connection between the solar viewing activities of Fechner and the Inca emperor. Merging the concept of sun gazing to gain expanded sight and insight with the theory of relativity postulated by Einstien — as exemplified by the idea that a clock transported to the sun would run at a slightly slower rate than on Earth — he set out to demonstrate by scientific application of ancient practices that one could transport oneself to the sun, thereby slowing down time.

It took my father 10 years from his first viewing of the sun in 1945 to learn the secret of how to look into it for short periods of time without harming himself. Shortly thereafter he moved to Peru to continue his experiments into ancient solar science. But, according to his writings, his early investigations resulted in a reverse effect: he was gaining time instead of losing it at, as he put it, an alarming rate —  aging rapidly rather than extending time! This experience resulted in high fevers and weakness of body.

What he eventually discovered was that the absorption of solar energy into the nervous system via the eyes floods the human’s electromagnetic field. This field, and the body itself, becomes “saturated” with radiation, resulting in the types of fevers he experienced and in the speeding up of time, which, of course, is relative. The secret to slowing down time lay in “reflecting” or “emitting” the acquired energy outward by means of techniques to bring balance or, as he put it, polarization (p. 43). Once this is achieved, proper exposure to sunlight can result in the development of a sixth sense, a new “vision,” that causes a heightened consciousness and awareness and, therefore, an expansion of self heavenward, so to speak.

“If heaven exists,” my father posited, “if that other world spoken of by Christ is real, then it must hold some position in the scheme of things. … Light/heat/radiation can be converted into matter, forming the material universe. … The universe, being in a state of continual change, is transformed from light to matter and back again. Is it logical to assume that solar beings, like angels, fly upon wings of light and manifest themselves to man within the vision of his inner eye?” (p. 44).

In the ancient and not-so-ancient Americas, hallucinations and altered states of mind have been achieved by the taking of narcotics like ayahuasca, chuchuhuasi, coca, and other hallucinogenic plants, such as the peyote mushroom or the huilca seed. Through The System outlined by my father over a half-a-century period, expanded inner vision without the degenerative effects of drugs to the brain and nervous system, can be achieved with proper use of the most ancient, affordable, and available natural product: the sun.

Many explorers have set out on daring treks, risking life and limb, in search of the mythical and elusive fountain of youth that could “convert old men into boys.” Little did they know that the true treasure lay not in the mountains, jungles or great waterways of the New World, but in the secret knowledge shared between the sun’s rays and man’s own vision.

“Gold is the sweat of the sun…” – ancient Inca saying

Dawn was breaking, like the light from another world.” – Alfred Jarry

A couple of months ago I was invited to give an interview for Australia’s premier new age magazine, New Dawn. I was asked about what I teach and why. The following article is based on that interview:

My purpose as a spiritual educator in transformation studies and personal development is to inform people of the new environmental condition that is causing an influx of Consciousness (spiritual energy) in the physical universe and, more important, to help them expand themselves to participate with that universal Consciousness by actualizing their personal Consciousness.

This concept may fly in the face of established, dogmatic theology, which is based on faith and worship or on social mores or codes that hardly address actual spiritual development. Religion cannot be confined to paper; the Word of God is not dead but a living, thriving source of  intelligence and love. Nor can religion be relegated to historical terms. Every field of human endeavor advances with new technology and with new understandings. Religion should be no different.

The popularized religious conceptualization of God — be it within the context of Christianity or any other belief — is to confine Him, Her or It to either an anthropomorphized icon or an unattainable,  imperceptible illusion. The power or force that we so often term as God is not something to be limited by the human mind or by human institutions. God is something to be experienced by means of the potential within each person. The way to do that is to live within God’s Presence and that means to be resonant energetically with the non-physical, ultra-dimensional intelligence of the universe. Thus, to be Conscious is to know God.

Humans left to their own devices are limited and for the most part arrogant. That is the mortal nature: to convince itself that it knows better than the spiritual nature, which is mostly inert or dormant in the third-dimensional paradigm. It can, however, be activated so as to awaken the whole individual, who can then be liberated from the trap of space and time and the temporal construct.

The practice involves absorbing, processing, and personalizing (as well as transmitting) cosmic-solar energy, which “contains” non-physical or spiritual data: intelligence or information factors. This spiritual data can be received by and reasoned upon only by a person’s spiritual Consciousness, a sense or faculty beyond mind and psyche yet related to them. Consciousness, therefore, must be awakened and developed. The way to do this, as a beginning point, is by absorbing sunlight.

This process stimulates the receptors of the eyes, the brain, nervous system, and endocrine system (pituitary, pineal, hypothalamus) for physiological benefit but, more important, acts as a catalyst for unlocking the dormant higher psycho-spiritual senses, which are pre-existent to physical form and function. Simply put, these are the energy centers and the organizing field of the human being. The aim of awakening these is the activation of Consciousness and the revivification of the Light body — a person’s eternal, immortal nature. This allows for co-existence in both spiritual and physical dimensions (or energy states) simultaneously, the result being the extension of a person’s spiritual identity after death.

The human being, individually and collectively, has the potential to unlock the “immortality code” within its own make up. This is the key to spiritual existence.

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise a born upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

And the nations shall come to thy light, and Kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Lift up thine eyes round about, and see; they gather themselves together, they come to the.…

Then thou shall see, and be radiant together, and thine heart shall be awed, and be expanded; because the multitudes of the sea shall be turned on to the, the wealth of the nation's shall come unto thee.… and they shall show forth the praises of the Lord.…

Therefore thy Gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut by day nor night that men may bring unto thee the wealth of the Nations, and that they are Kings may be brought to you. For the nation and king that will not serve the shall perish; yea, those nations should be utterly wasted.… I will make thy officers peace, and design ministers righteousness.

Sun-Gazing, Empathy, and Pine Cones

By Michael McIntire

The other day someone asked,

I am curious to know how sun gazing has changed you regarding job, friends, hobbies, interests and other "normal" things in life?”

Sun-gazing seems to amplify awareness and sensitivities. In problem solving or creative processes -like occupation, arts, music composition, research - solutions or new avenues have become more conspicuous. As time went on, novel innovations would more and more ‘come out of the blue.’ And when this happens, somewhat startled, you’d think to yourself . . . “where the heck did that come from?” Often these innovations are quite simple and straightforward. Simple solutions for complex situations.

Along with this comes an exhilarating appreciation for living things in general. Life is incredibly abundant in our world and the more you notice it, the more it notices you. There are so many messages in the way a bird tilts its head, the tone of barking dog, the hand posture of a stranger in the market checkout, the glance of an infant. This is more than just a perceptive thing. There is an empathetic component at play, which slowly over time ‘connects this to that, that to this, and this to this’. Suddenly a network begins to emerge. But, it is not all lollipops and rainbows. There can be salient emotions imbedded in these living networks or the individuals within those networks. Being aware of these things can affect you more than one would suspect. The so-called adage ‘one with the universe’ is not for the faint of heart. Nevertheless, any one thing can be very rich, there seems to be no boundaries.

Somehow, sun-gazing has nudged my capacity for empathy. Empathy is more than feeling what another is feeling. The ability to think in the manner another is thinking; that is an empathic process. In social settings, making a tiny change in the way we present our disposition can bring a cohesiveness to the group. That’s an empathetic endeavor. Offering assistance to someone in need; this is called ‘active empathy’. In conversation, saying enough but not too much, that the other person has a heightened sense of self value- That is empathic, and it builds trust. This empathetic component is innate. It is innate in humans, it is innate in most mammals, and in some birds. So, one day last Spring while coming down this small but forested hill, a seven foot evergreen tree stopped me in my tracks. This little thing was littered with cones. Very quickly anyone would notice this tiny tree was bolstered with pride for its display of cones. It was literally pregnant with joy for its accomplishment: Beaming! Exalting! And, it wanted the whole world to know. Empathy.

Cosolargy & Satya-chetana to Collaborate

In October and December of 2009, the leaders of two spiritual movements met in Reno, Nevada, to discuss ways their two movements and organizations might collaborate. Satya-chetana International and Divine Mission were founded by Swami Sri Atmananda (pictured, left) to facilitate the transformation of those who desire to manifest a new spiritual consciousness but are not mentally aware of why they have descended to earth in this crucially cosmic era.

Likewise, Cosolargy International and the International Community of Christ (ICC), headed by the Right Reverend Gene Savoy Jr. (pictured, right), eldest son of the founder of both entities, offers to humanity the ancient system of spiritual regeneration by means of cosmic solar energy. With the advent of a heightened spiritual consciousness made available through the light of the visible sun, ICC/Cosolargy teaches the mystic methods of transcendence via solar eye techniques by which the individual can be transformed into an awakened soul.

The two leaders met and pledged themselves to work together to bring knowledge of the New Condition manifesting in the world to people everywhere. They are currently working on an action plan for a collaborative effort to bring the methods and techniques to the Hindu world through a combination of Cosolargy and the Satya-chetana Movement.

Satya-chetana International is based in Tiruvannamalai, India, with missions in Napa and Sacramento, California. ICC/Cosolargy is headquartered in Reno, Nevada, and maintains a branch community in Kurume, Japan.

A description of the collaborative task has been drafted by David Mitchell (aka Devashish), president of Divine Mission:

Divine CollaborationSwamiji

Since truth is One and collaboration is bilateral, divine collaboration implies a grounding in Awareness while working in the experiential plane to manifest the Awareness. Such is the newly manifested collaboration between the Satya-chetana Movement (SCM) and the International Community of Christ, Church of the Second Advent (henceforth referred to as Second Advent). As the growth of the divine presence within gradually dissolves the illusion of separateness between individuals, organizations populated by such individuals have less need to cling to their separate identities. A unique opportunity has come for two spiritual organizations to develop new forms of collaboration to manifest the New Dawn.

The nature of the collaboration has begun to evolve, and Swamiji has “committed his full involvement” to work with the Second Advent in manifesting their aspirations, which are also shared by SCM. For example, the Second Advent realization entails the following insights and approaches:

  1. We are living in an age of transition from Darkness to Light and are here to collaborate with the Light that is descending to Earth for the transformation of the mass consciousness.
  2. The second coming of Christ does not refer to a form but refers to a Force, the Christ Consciousness (i.e. Incarnation Force) that is now radiating the planet for mass awakening to occur.
  3. To link with this new Force, techniques have been developed that will allow this Force to enter and divinize one’s system.
  4. These techniques allow the power of the spiritual Sun behind the physical sun (i.e. the Agni force; see verse 163 of Gita) to be transmitted to the seeker.
  5. The goal of this divinization process is to produce the highest expression of Spirit on Earth; thousands of channels of the Incarnation Force as Christ and Buddha exemplified. Their presence will transform the collective consciousness and avoid the possibility of mass destruction, and establish mankind in a new era of spiritual consciousness.

Clearly these are also principles shared by SCM. Since the whole planet is covered in spiritual darkness, the work is too great for a single Incarnation channel and many are needed to transform the darkness to Light.

I reveled in Lao-tzu, the Old Master, teaching, “I am not like other people, I drink from the breasts of the Great Mother.” The metaphorical ‘milk’ from the breasts of the Great Mother is nothing more than sheer grace of the Beloved. A western mystic, describing that milk might call it the Logos, the Pure Light of God, straight from the Bridal Chamber in the Palace of Light.

For me, the journey in eastern spirituality came in earnest in my thirties, after my time of missionary work teaching what I thought was the Christian “Word” on Nevada Indian reservations.

Viscott responded to a caller’s spiritual dilemma, saying, “All we can ever know about God is what we can know about ourselves.” Something caught my attention that day.

He said, “O Lord, there are many around the drinking trough, but there is nothing in the cistern [that feeds it].”

The late mythologist Joseph Campbell suggested that this outer kind of exoteric religion was actually “an inoculation against having a divine experience.” As Jesus did, many of us continue to pray that our outer religious structures re-member, and come to life again, and provide light again, in these late and dark days.

“…in the ancient Indian culture, as in so many cultures of recorded history, sages had visions of a future age, an age when the Supreme Creator would intervene in world affairs and bring peace and harmony among all peoples and all nations of the world. This age was to be one of Universal Justice and Virtue when God would end the eternal struggle caused by human and natural order; He would use the very Powers of Creation to stabilize the Universe – an event described in the liturgical symbolism of Indian religion.”
